Huu Lung Tourism (Lang Son): Prospects & Development Opportunities

Huu Lung, a district in Lang Son province, possesses favorable transportation links, a mild climate, diverse natural terrain, and a network of historical and cultural sites. As part of Lang Son Geopark, the district has significant advantages for building distinctive tourism products that can attract visitors and strengthen its competitive position.

In recent years, Huu Lung’s tourism sector has made notable progress thanks to the direction of provincial and district authorities. Following approval from the Provincial People’s Committee, the district issued a tourism development plan for 2022–2025 with a vision to 2030. By 2025, Huu Lung aims to welcome more than 200,000 visitors, half of them overnight guests, and grow its tourism workforce to over 300 people, with at least 60 percent trained to meet professional standards. By 2030, visitor numbers are projected to exceed 300,000, with more than 500 tourism workers serving the sector.

Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee Tran Quoc Phong noted that the district has prioritized budget allocation for tourism development, socioeconomic infrastructure, and mobilizing socialized resources. Between 2022 and 2024, Huu Lung invested in provincial-level tourism destinations, including Yen Thinh and Huu Lien community tourism sites, Bac Le Temple in Tan Thanh commune, and Quan Giam Sat Temple in Hoa Lac commune. The Dong Lam scenic site in Huu Lien, recognized as a provincial relic in 2021, has become a centerpiece of promotion. In 2024, “Dong Lam – Huu Lien Tourism” and 19 local tourism service businesses were granted certification rights to use the brand.

To diversify its offerings, the district has supported the development of unique tourism products. Adventure sports such as mountain climbing are available in Yen Thinh and Yen Son, while eco-tourism combined with agricultural experiences has been established in Dong Tan, Cai Kinh, Hoa Lac, Yen Son, and Yen Thinh. Farmstay models like Dong Tan Rainbow Farm and The Valley Farm have become popular draws. Meanwhile, spiritual tourism remains strong, with Bac Le Temple, Quan Giam Sat Temple, and Suoi Ngang Temple among the main attractions.

Dong Lam grassland in Huu Lien commune is one of Huu Lung’s most iconic sites. Surrounded by limestone mountains and primeval forest, the vast meadow changes with the seasons, offering visitors distinct experiences year-round. Its natural beauty has spurred the growth of homestays and community-based tourism. Locals have invested in modern accommodations while preserving traditional cultural values, and regional cuisine adds to the appeal with unique flavors crafted from family recipes.
