Vietnamese Travelers Embrace the Solo Travel Trend

According to Booking.com’s Travel Trends 2025 report, 67% of Vietnamese travelers plan to take solo trips next year to relax and recharge. The findings, drawn from search and booking data on the platform, highlight a growing interest in independent travel driven by comfort, flexibility, and diverse budget options. Additionally, 42% of Vietnamese travelers intend to explore international destinations on their own.

Booking.com also identified several cities most favored by Vietnamese solo travelers. These are well-known urban destinations offering rich cultural attractions, entertainment, and shopping experiences that cater to diverse interests.

Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok remains a timeless favorite among solo travelers. The city is only an hour’s flight from Vietnam and allows visa-free entry for Vietnamese visitors. Its extensive MRT and BTS rail networks make it easy and safe to explore the city independently. With costs similar to those in Vietnam, Bangkok offers an appealing mix of cultural events, exhibitions, large shopping centers, parks, and underground art spaces.

Tokyo, Japan
Japan’s capital continues to attract travelers with its unique blend of tradition and modernity. From fashion and architecture to cuisine and entertainment, Tokyo offers endless inspiration. The city’s reputation for safety makes it a top choice for solo visitors who value cultural depth and self-guided exploration.

Singapore
A destination where tradition meets innovation, Singapore remains high on the list for those seeking an energetic, safe, and memorable solo experience. Although the cost of travel is relatively high, its proximity to Vietnam and its vibrant urban rhythm make it irresistible. Beyond iconic city landmarks, Singapore impresses visitors with Michelin-recognized street food, art exhibitions, cultural events, and Changi Airport, often regarded as the best in the world and a destination in itself.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Domestically, 62% of Vietnamese travelers plan to travel solo within the country in 2025, with 50% wanting to reconnect with nature and 33% preferring small-town charm. Phu Quoc perfectly fulfills these expectations. The island captivates visitors with its unspoiled beaches, clear waters, and year-round tropical climate. Combining serene coastal beauty with just the right touch of vibrancy, Phu Quoc is an ideal escape for those seeking peace and discovery in equal measure.
